Best AI visibility monitoring tools — who AI assistants actually recommend

Most "best AI visibility tools" lists rank the tools their author likes. This one ranks by a single measurable thing: who the assistants themselves cited when we asked five buyer questions on 2026-07-26. Same probe run as the full benchmark report, reformatted as a ranked list. It is a dated snapshot, not a rank tracker.

We are one of the tools in this category

AttractOS competes with products ranked below. We are publishing this anyway because the run produced a result that is inconvenient for us: AttractOS was cited zero times, so we do not appear in our own ranking at all. The ordering comes from the same probe code that produces every other benchmark here, and every underlying citation is published so you can check it.

Methodology — how this snapshot was produced

Probe date: 2026-07-26. Sample: 5 buyer-intent queries × 2 live assistant search lanes (a third was attempted and returned nothing — see below). This is a single, dated sample per lane — not a rank tracker. Assistant answers vary between runs and shift as models and their indexes change; treat this as a snapshot of one moment, not a repeatable ranking.

Lane Model ID Source
OpenAI web-search API sample openai/gpt-4o-mini-search-preview via OpenRouter — no response this run
Perplexity Sonar API sample perplexity/sonar via OpenRouter
Gemini grounded API sample gemini-2.5-flash via Gemini API

On the OpenAI lane: it produced no answers at all on this run. Every call returned model_not_found: OpenAI has deprecated the gpt-4o-mini-search-preview model this lane calls, and the request now fails upstream. We are reporting that rather than quietly presenting a two-lane run as a three-lane one. Everything below therefore aggregates the Perplexity Sonar and Gemini grounded lanes only — the same two lanes our other benchmarks rank on — and the true state of the OpenAI answer for these queries is unknown, not zero. The lane has since been rebuilt on openai/gpt-5.4-mini:online — an OpenAI model answering over web results retrieved by OpenRouter — and answers again. This page is left as the two-lane run it actually was rather than re-scored against a later probe. We resolve every cited link to its registrable domain (eTLD+1) before counting. Full method: /methodology.

1. Otterly.ai — the only name the assistants agree on

5 citations across all 5 intents, and one of only 7 domains cited by both live lanes. Nothing else in the run came close, and no other tool appeared on more than two of the five questions. Whatever else this sample shows, Otterly is the one product that survived every rephrasing of "how do I see my AI visibility." Its published pricing on 2026-07-26 ran Lite $29/mo, Standard $189/mo, Premium $489/mo — the cheapest recurring entry point we found in the category.

2. Siftly.ai — the other purpose-built tool that recurred

2 citations across 2 intents, and cited by both lanes. Along with Otterly it is one of only two purpose-built AI-visibility products in the top eight; everything else at the top of the list is a broader suite or an agency.

3. Semrush and SE Ranking — the incumbents arriving

2 citations each, both cited on the ChatGPT-tracking and cheapest-check questions. Neither is an AI-visibility product as such; both are established SEO suites that have added an AI-visibility module. Their showing here is the clearest signal in the sample that this category may not stay standalone — buyers who already pay for a search suite are being pointed back to it. Ahrefs, Frase and Keyword.com each appear once, which is the same story with less weight behind it.

4. Meltwater — the enterprise incumbent from the other direction

2 citations, but both on one question: "how do I track whether ChatGPT recommends my brand." It was the only domain both lanes independently reached for on that intent. Meltwater is a PR and media-monitoring platform that added AI-visibility tracking — evidence that this buyer question is also being answered from the comms-monitoring side, not just the SEO side.

5. Rankability, Pixelmojo, Frizerly — cited twice, but read the label

Each got 2 citations. Rankability is an SEO platform for agencies; Pixelmojo is an agency that also sells its own visibility audit tool; Frizerly is an automated SEO-content SaaS whose own marketing pages are programmatically generated. They are in the top eight on citations, but only one of them is a tool a buyer of AI-visibility monitoring would shortlist.

Where Profound is

Cited once, on one query, by one lane — the plain "best ai visibility monitoring tools" question. It is the best-known name in enterprise AI-search monitoring and the competitor we field the most questions about, and it did not appear on the other four intents. That says something about citation share in this sample; it says nothing about the product, which is a genuinely capable platform whose strengths we lay out on our comparison page. Its published pricing on 2026-07-26 was Starter $99/mo and Growth $399/mo, both billed yearly, with Enterprise not publicly listed.

And where nobody is

The most useful gap in the run is the price-shaped question. On "cheapest way to check if my website shows up in ai answers," the subscription platforms largely vanish and the answers fill with agency explainers and website builders. Across the three most prominent priced tools in the category — Otterly, BrandGEO ($79/$149/$349 per month) and Profound — we counted nine published plans on 2026-07-26 and not one one-time purchase among them. A buyer asking this question once is currently being offered an annual commitment or a blog post.

The honest caveats, because they are load-bearing here

  • Citation share is not quality. A tool cited five times is not five times better than one cited once. This ranks visibility in AI answers, which is exactly one property of a company.
  • One date, one run. Five queries, two lanes, 2026-07-26. The third lane (OpenAI web-search) was unavailable, so a third of the intended sample is missing rather than negative.
  • Absence is not non-existence. Good products missing from this list are missing from these five answers. AttractOS is one of them.
  • Prices move. Every figure above was read off the vendor's own live pricing page on 2026-07-26. Verify on their site before buying.
